British Values

At Oak Farm Primary School, we actively promote the fundamental British values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, mutual respect, and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs. These values help children understand their rights and responsibilities, respect others, make positive choices and develop the knowledge and attitudes they need to participate positively in life in modern Britain.

British Values are woven throughout school life rather than taught as a one-off topic. They are explicitly explored through our PSHE curriculum and whole-school assemblies, as well as through subjects such as Religious Education and History. Children also experience these values in practice through pupil voice, school rules and responsibilities, collaborative learning and opportunities to discuss different viewpoints. Our aim is for every child to learn to respect, understand, belong and thrive within our diverse school community and beyond.
